Einfach mal spontan nach Island…

Polarlichter in Island sind immer ein ganz besonderes Erlebnis und sie haben bei uns auch im Jahr 2020 wieder für schlaflose Nächte gesorgt. :-)2020 wird uns wohl ewig in Erinnerung bleiben als ein ganz “besonderes” Jahr – und das nicht gerade im positiven Sinne. Aber wir haben das Beste daraus gemacht und im Januar die Mandelblüte auf Gran Canaria fotografiert, im Frühling die heimische Natur entdeckt (u.a. im UNESCO-Biosphärenreservat) und im Herbst durften wir uns ins menschenleere isländische Hochland zurückziehen – 3,5 Wochen in eine ganz andere Welt (fernab von Corona) eintauchen und nicht nur das! Wir fühlten uns fast wie auf einer Zeitreise in ein Island von anno dazumal. :x

Kirkjufell Guesthouse and Apartments

The lagoon at Kirkjufell is one of our favorite places in Iceland to watch the aurora dance at night.We visited Iceland in late summer 2020. This sparsely populated country was definitely one of the safest travel destinations during the Covid-19 pandemic. And it still is because the vast majority of the confirmed cases are concentrated in the capital Reykjavik. Tourists have to do a double testing and go into quarantine after the first screening upon arrival.
